Which visa do I need?

Hello,

I am a born British citizen currently living in the UK, my wife is an American citizen who has been living in the UK for 5 years, she is now in her last year of her masters degree so will be moving back to the states this summer. I am going to move to the states with her - which visa will I need to apply for? Thanks everyone!

You’ll want CR1 then.

It will be an IR1 visa as you have been married more than two years.

Your quickest option is DCF (direct consular filing) and is roughly 6 months but if she goes back to the States and you file then you're looking at approximately 12 - 15 months.

They’ve only been married three months.

Is she eligible to apply for UK Citizenship? I would highly recommend she do so before moving, you never know, one day you might want to move back to the UK.
