His interview is this Tuesday, 20 Aug. So I doubt the doctors would be able to see him on Monday.

Can he reschedule the interview for later so that he can get the new medical before it? That would certainly be cheaper and less travel. But, there's no link on this new usvisa-info.com website to reschedule - too close to the time? Where would he reschedule if he could?

I feel like such an idiot over this. In the millions of words one has to read, it's inevitable that one small phrase gets overlooked, regardless of how important it is.

I just re-read the Medical Examination PDF which still says that the medical is good for 12 months, but the chest x-ray for 6 months. Could he get just the chest x-ray re-done, and sent over from Knightsbridge Doctors after the interview? Or is this info now obsolete, and even the medical exam is now only good for 6 months?

I think you are in a situation that not many people have been in before, and no one can really answer these questions with any accuracy. I have also read that the medical exam results are valid for 12 months...BUT I also know that they are now issuing visas valid 6 months from the date of the medical.

I think whatever your husband tries will be something "new" to us on the forum.

Oh, I just love being the guinea pig

I think we will call Knightsbridge on Monday, see if they have any news/info on this - if it's ever come up before (if they're even allowed to answer that).

Then, he'll go to the interview, ask some questions around this whole thing. There are a few ways it can go, none of which are insurmountable.

I shall update when we know anything.

Re: VISA APPROVED!!!

The whole thing was much easier than expected.

Husband asked the conoff what his options were because his medical was in April 2013, and we were likely not ready to go by mid October (the 6 months). Conoff said simply to get another chest x-ray, and once that's received the visa will have another 6 months on it before we have to 'activate'. The medical exam is still good for 12 months.

So, from the panic of maybe having to fly to the US for 1 day, to simply having another x-ray made - much easier!

He would have been given it today but we wanted to get the x-ray, so as soon as we have the new one, we'll have the visa! Woo hoo:thumbsup:

That's really good to know, wuthering, thanks for being the "guinea pig"!

I'm only happy to do it because it worked out fine. I'd begun to berate myself for missing that piece of info (which is hidden in FAQs, with a spelling error and a point of grammar that leaves it poorly worded). As an editor I must get these things right or my clients will leave me - we don't have that luxury with the US government, though, do we?

As a fellow editor, I agree with you up to a point. That point is where you are confusing your status as a potential immigrant with the status of a client of the US government. Not so, not so! Technically you are being provided a service by the government on behalf of the US citizens or permanent residents who requested or who stand to benefit from your entry into the US. I know it's screwy, but it's potentially fatal to act as though you're the one to whom Immigration is accountable.

I would never assume they owe me anything. In fact I went so far the other way that I supplied the husband with about 200 sheets of information to take to the interview - in case they maybe, possibly, could, might want to see something. They looked at 10 pages. I'm happy regardless. Like deliriously so.

See 9 FAM 40.11 N6, and be aware that the UK began using the 2007 TB technical instructions as of April 1, 2012, a year before your husband had his medical exam.
