Default VietNam--SaiGon--Packet 3--anyone

Hi All,

Anyone deal with Ho Chi Minh city US consulate recently?

My name is Jason. I subtmitted I-129 (petition for fiance) for my darling
Vietnamese fiance (Hanh), to the CA Service Center on June 11, 2002. I received my
"Approval Notice" on August 16, 2002. The Approval notice states my petition has
been forwarded to Ho Chi Minh city U.S. Consulate. And, that the approval notice is
valid from
8/15/2002 - 12/15/2002.

What does packet 3 contain? What documents will VN fiance need? Will I (the
American petitioner) receive any documents from SaiGon consulate? Do I need to
submit AOS before her interview? What happened in your case?

I do not not what is going to be requested of my Vietnamese fiance. I am not sure
what I do next. What paperwork should she expect to have to produce? Will I need to
get my Affidavit of Support completed and sent to her before she is issued a Visa?
How long from the approval letter, did your fiance receive interview?

I would like to hear from US citizens that have already gone through the process.
That is, obtianed a K-1 Visa for Vietnamese fiance. Any information or
suggestions to share?

I have visited her last year and this year too. And, I will be visiting her this
October...10/09-10/29/. Can I do anything when in Saigon to help process?

Would like to hear from others with experiences similiar to mine. Really appreciate
any specific information about SaiGon packet 3 and AOS.

Thanks.

Jason

Hello Jason,

My wife came from Vietnam on a K1 visa Oct 2001. We are waiting for AOS in Chicago.

Regarding your questions: My wife never recieved packet #3 or packet #4 from the
consulate. She had to go to the window at the consulate and ask for each paperwork
( by form number)that should be in the packet. They told her that she did not need
packet # 3 and that she should wait for packet # 4 to be sent to her house. But it
never came. I called the consulate during this time to check the status of her
missing packets Here is our time line: Sent in application on April 16 2001
to NSC 1st NOA May 16 2001 2nd NOA May 25 (I called consulate in
VN on Aug 20, and was told she had an interview date on Sept 26. I told
my Fiancee the news and then she called the consulate to explain that I already
called and told them she had an interview date. Consulate told her that they would
send packet #4 but 10 days before the interview date my fiancee had not recieved
packet #4 and called them again and was told to go to the consulate to pick it up
at the consulate.) Recieved Interview at VN consulate Sept 26 2001
Approved Same day Returned three days to pick up visa Arrived in USA
Oct 20 2001 Sent in AOS Dec 2001 Fingerprinted April 2002
Waiting...

The consulate will DEFINATELY need your tax returns from the past three years. You
can get them from the IRS!

You will not get any paperwork from Saigon

You do not submit AOS until after you are married.

Yes, get your Affidvit of Support ready. Send a copy to your fiance for her
interview. It would help.

You can email me at : [email protected]
