Justed wanted to share we were approved for our K1 Petition today.
Last week i emailed my congressmans' office and today they called
me on my cellular. The liason explained although
VSC is noting time frames of 15 to 21 days for approval, but the reality is one
should allow 60 to 90 days. Now, here is the funny thing, as he was speaking
i was already online checking the status of my case. I typed in the case #
and boom i relaized i was reading a different paragraph and the number 14
appeared as oppose to 15 to 21 which i had been staring at now for weeks. What
a coincidence!!!!!
I said to the liason, oh my God i have just been approved. I told him he must
have brought me the luck. He was very nice and courteous and told me if i need
any further help to contact him. The congressmans office had contacted INS yet
based on my filing dates, but it's nice to know there is someone you can turn
to. In addition, it will make you feel better knowing you're being PROACTIVE
and
somehow you're involved in the process.

I also had contacted INS myself last week on 11/12/02, after holding for 3
hours i got a live speaking operator and i asked for status. She basically told
me the petition is in review with an adjudicator, which was a relief for me
knowing the file is not sitting on a shelf somewhere. She also said you should
have a decision within 2 to 3 weeks, if not call us again. She also mentioned
due to extra security checks processing is now taking longer plus they recieve
8,000 petitions per day.

My approval notice read the following:
This case has beem approved. On November 18, 2002, an approval notice was
mailed. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may
wish to verify or update your address, please speak to an Immigration
Information
Officer during business hours.
I HOPE ALL WHOM ARE WAITING READ A NOTICE LIKE THIS SOON!

My timelines were as follows:
Application mailed on 10/01/02/via certified mail.
Application received at VSC 10/03/02
1st NOA 10/07/02
2nd NOA 11/18/02 online and telephone automated system at the center.
Embassy filed: Damascus, Syria.

I've contacted my attorney to see if he recieved anything by mail and he said
no.
I would like to thank all those who have contributed to these boards,
because i have learned so much in the past couple of months.
For me, hiring an attorney was a waste of money. The applications are
simple to fill out and everyone here is so helpful from what i've helpful.
Special
thanks to RETE on behalf of us all. I may need your assistance when it comes
to the AOS time, since i am not planning on wasting my $$$ anymore.

I mainly retained an attorney for the peace of mind, but i've also discovered
during a process such as this no one can really comfort you or support you.
I can honestly say this is one of the hardest things i've been through in life,
and trust me i haven't lived a sheltered life, and nothing has been handed to
me on a silver spoon. I've had my share of heartaches and experiences. However
this wait has been extremely difficult and we're only halfway home.
Maybe because we love each other so much, and true love hurts at some point.

I've found that reading and sharing information on these message boards is the
best support system one can have, and discussing it with your fiance.
Also, please do remain PROACTIVE within reason, it will mentally help you
feel better and most importantly think POSITIVE and remain hopeful and cling to
your dreams.

Another thing i should note, my finace and i have an age gap of 14 years,
he's 24yrs and i'm 38yrs. and i was nervous as hell that this may raise a red
flag.
Lucky for us whatever documents submitted sufficed to prove the validitiy of
our relationship, along with all the praires and our faith in God!

I just realized i've literally written a mini novel here, but i am ecxited.
Some of you may find this inforamtion boring while others may enjoy it.
