Go to www.usdoj.gov/ins

Drill down as follows:

Push "Immigration Services And Benefits" link on the left

Push "National Customer Service Center" link in the middle

Push "Case Status Online" link on the left

This should give you the same information as the automated system -- which is not much.

This URL takes you directly to the INS "Case Status Search" page (rather than going through all the motions listed above):

https://egov.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/...s/caseStat.jsp

You'll need the "application receipt number" to look your case up on this system; I believe that's the number you get on your NOAs.

(I haven't gotten a receipt yet, so I can't tell you for sure where this receipt number is... I'm sure someone else can, though.)
