Validity of I-131re-entry permits

Hi Guys

I have recently got my re-rentry permit I-131 which is valid From
March 2004 to March 2006. I will need to travel to the USA for a
family occassion in August 2004. What happens to my Re entry permit
when I enter. Will it Lapse or is it still valid till March 2006

It's validity does not change.
