Using visa applicants Assets
My wife has completed a I-864 affadvit, but was living in UK and doesnt have as yet provable USA income. However my assets will cover the 5 x income requirements. Im the visas applicant. So she her I-864 includes my assets.
My question is do I need to do the I-864A (i saw on one state dept website that i do , but seen on others that i dont_ or do I just include evidence of the assets ie bank statements in my name with her I-864 I assume I just need to evidence enough just to cover the 5 x amount required. Thank you |

Thank you Is it not 3 x income requirements where a US citizen is sponsoring a spouse: ? However, if you are a U.S. citizen and you are sponsoring your spouse or child age 18 years of age or older, the total value of your assets must only be equal to at least three times the difference. It is 3x.
I-864A is not required. Rene |
Re: Using visa applicants Assets
May want to not use "my assets" when talking about joint assets if the officer asks about this. You're married and everything is split now.

Re: Using visa applicants Assets
There in my name , if they were in both names they wouldnt be in the section where include applying applicant section.
If that was an issue then there wouldnt be different sections. |
Re: Using visa applicants Assets
Tom is talking about the verbal part of the interview. They are joint assets now, so they are "our" assets.

Re: Using visa applicants Assets
Ok, leading on from above.
"we" have enough liquid assets from house sale and savings in various accounts to be well over the assets requirement, in fact one bank account covers the required sum. Is it acceptable for my wife, sponsor to just put on the I-864 the savings account amount that covers the required assets amount and provision of bank statement evidencing the amount or do you have to disclose all assets and provide all the relevant bank statements. Are these affidavits ever referred to again in the future , ie by IRS etc, or only if they go back to sponsor if there was ever a requirement for financial support from the state ?? Just want to ensure what is required, mean less paperwork to eviudence the one bank statement, after all im assuming this is purely not justify not going to be a burden on the state and nothing else ? is that correct |
Re: Using visa applicants Assets
You don't have to provide all the accounts, just the one that meets the financial requirement.
USCIS and IRS do not share information, so no worries there. Rene |
