Hello,
Please help. We are stuck as to which option will be easiest, quickest. I am an American citizen, my fiancé is a British citizen. I have been living in the UK the past 10 years, I have a right to remain visa. We want to be married and live in the USA. I have read through the guidelines etc. And I’m wondering how I’m supposed to sponsor my fiancé (or husband if best option to marry in UK first) if I’m living and working in the UK?
What is the best way for us to go about this and has anyone else been in this situation?
many thanks in advance for any help or ideas.

Marry in the UK and then have your husband file for CR1 via the US Embassy in London. I would also strongly recommend naturalising as a British citizen before you leave in order to be able to return in the future. Your Indefinite Leave to Remain will expire once you have been out of the UK for more than two years.

Hello,
many thanks, what you have suggested was our fav option. I just worried about the part of sponsoring him and how they will look upon this as I’m not living and working in the USA?

Your biggest hurdle will be the affidavit of support (I-864) that you need to complete for your spouse's visa. If you do not have accesses of 3x the US poverty guidelines for a family of 2 (if that is the size of your family, i.e. you and him), then you will require a joint sponsor who must be living in the US, be either a US Citizen or a permanent resident and have the financial ability to show earnings 125% of the poverty guidelines for their family plus your spouse.

I stand corrected. Not necessarily a problem might’ve been a better way of phrasing it.
