INA 212(a)(10)(E) Former citizens who renounced citizenship to avoid taxation.-Any alien who is a former citizen of the United States who officially renounces United States citizenship and who is determined by the Attorney General to have renounced United States citizenship for the purpose of avoiding taxation by the United States is excludable.
I'm not sure what the Attorney General's criteria are though. I imagine the person must owe a lot of money in taxes or have a significant income to get their attention.

To be fair the children sound like they have 2 citizenships.
And I know we can forget it, but the US is not the whole world. I have never been to Sweden for example.

I agree. It's in the 212(a) grounds of inadmissibility along with everything else that can keep someone out of the US. The 212(a) grounds only apply to aliens and not US citizens.
