Update letter of intent?
 

My K1 petition date expired October 7th.

I'm aware that I am still allowed to attend an interview in order to obtain a visa. The Immigrant Visa Branch sent me a letter the other day, stating both of the above, and that I will need a new/updated letter of intent from the US citizen.

I have an updated letter of intent that is dated at the end of July, she sent this to me when she sent all the paperwork for the Affidavit of Support.

So my question is, how "updated" does the letter of intent have to be.

Will it being dated in July be okay, or will it have to be dated after the petition expiry date?

I would get one dated after the expiry date to be sure.

I agree with Tom. Get one as current as possible to the interview date.
