What you are trying to do sounds reasonable however, unless you intend to move your business here or get married, it will be near enough impossible for you to come here and spend that time together. US immigration has a lot of red-tape, it's complicated, slow and stressful. It would be nice for you to have a sponsor but that also is very expensive. That point you made about being independent for a long time?....Well, depending on where in the country you will be based, that will certainly drive you crazy.
