Maybe.

I don't know what's in there. I do remember being freaked out that I couldn't find ibuprofen in Greece and I thought the Brits were trying to kill me by giving me a drug I'd never heard of: "paracetamol".

Was going to suggest heat pads, glad they seem to be helping.

Also, why not try the Ibuprofen gel, since you can't take the tablets.

Could still provide the same side effects, though to a lesser degree, as the active ingredients still affect the relevant blood vessels/tissue by being in the blood. ie it's not just the direct impact of the tablet "being in the tummy".

My OH can't take Tylenol and although it's the same as Paracetamol, it really does a number on him, we always have a stock of Paracetamol we get in the U.K. We asked the Pharmacist why he had the problem with Tylenol and he said it could be the compound they use to make the pills.

Nonono if you have aspirin-sensitive asthma, that could be VERY dangerous. (includes ibuprofen)

I see you weren't going to... but I've seen the performance of aspirin-sensitive asthma triggered, and it's most impressive!

If you have asthma, you really shouldn't take Ibuprofen. I hope you do not have aspirin-sensitive asthma, not all asthma is.

Some asthma is sensitive to Aspirin - in which case, it can also be sensitive to Ibuprofen. Sometimes (inexcusably) doctors are not aware of this - it is in the national guidelines for Asthma.

If your asthma is set off by Aspirin - Ibuprofen can be equally dangerous.

Tylenol (acetominophen, paracetamol) very rarely causes problems with asthma.

If you have an asthma exacerbation - it can be serious, get help immediately.

I'm sorry you're hurting, and glad you're not having side effects.

Do mention the Ibuprofen to the doctor. If he doesn't know, mention that for many asthmatics, Ibuprofen cross-reacts with aspirin (in NIH guidelines for asthma).

Perhaps your asthma is not sensitive to aspirin.

If it IS sensitive to aspirin though - just because you don't react to Ibuprofen one time does not mean you wouldn't again. I really wouldn't recommend it.

My fiance has this problem, and it has been spectacular.

And yes, probably painkillers, and perhaps muscle relaxers. Heated rice bags can help.

I hope you feel better soon.

Change your doctor...I can see mine the same day if necessary.

Please becareful as to what you are taking. 18mths ago my neice's doctor told her to take Ibuprofen...after hurting her shoulder playing hockey. She collapsed ...was taken into hospital and had to have immediate surgery on a perforated stomach.
