travelling outside us during green card process
Once I have applied for a Green Card can I travel in and out of the US on a recently issued I 797 approval for an L visa extension and have the visa stamped in London even if I have not received the Advance Parole Notice ? i am a little confused about this point as I was told you should not travel out during the Green Card process before you get the APN ?

The immigration regulations make it clear that it is the AOS applicant’s prerogative to present either an AP or an L-1/L-2 visa stamp when entering the US. You are not required to have a valid AP to enter the US. so long as you have a valid L visa stamp.
Hope this helps.

I'd agree with that response with a few caveats. They have to be otherwise admissible as an L-1. They have to be employed by the petitioner in the position they were approved for. They can have received an EAD card, but they cannot be using it to work.
