Travel outside the US / Interview question
Hi gang! I just received my AOS interview letter for September -- 2 years and a few days from its receipt date -- (New Yorkers there is hope!!!!)
I had been sweating bullets because my wife and I scheduled a getaway to Paris for the end of Sept and I was cringing because I thought for sure they'd schedule the interview for the same dates..
..luckily they didn't... however, it was close. My interview is on Sept 8th.. and we're supposed to leave for France on Sept 26th.
My question is -- if all goes well at the intvw, and they stamp the passport, that should mean no prob to leave and come back, correct? What if for example, all goes well but the fbi or other checks are pending? Will I be allowed to use my AP doc to travel in and out?
I know it's a scenario with a million variables, but I'd appreciate your input

If you don't get approved at the interview because of something like pending security checks, I am pretty sure you can still travel on your AP. Hopefully someone who knows for sure will chime in. I'm not 100% sure.
Best Wishes for a successful interview!

I'm interested in why you would need to do that: my attorney told me that the I-551 stamp in the passport is entirely equivalent to the Green Card, so I don't understand why you would need to tell the officer anything...
