so if i am looking for work and waiting to apply for visas i can stay in the country for 90 days...then how long do i have to leave the country before returning again for another 90 days....or am I clueless to the way this works too!!

I assume you're talking about the Visa Waiver program - visiting the
USA without a visa. The normal advice is to spend at least as much
time outside the USA as you last spent in the USA. I've never heard of
anyone having trouble if they follow this scheme (assuming they don't
break any rules). You may get away with visiting more frequently, at
least for the first couple of visits.
