we supposed to know all of this just by what is listed on the USCIS
website. It doesn't make sense.

So now I have to go get more photos taken today. How fun. Also, how
did you attach the photo to the G325A? Staple? Glue? Paperclip?

Thanks!
Lyn

Hi Lyn,

I can't access Scott's checklist to see what additional info or action is required. I filed my application in August 2003 at Seattle according to the website forms and guidelines, did not encounter any problems in the whole process and my status was approved in January 2004.

Is it stated on the checklist that the photo must be attached to G325A?

I'm concerned now as two new friends are filing according to what I did, and I don't want them to face any hassle for not following new rules!

I used binder clips which were acceptable then ........ maybe not anymore ....... :-)

All the best of luck with your application!

Of course, I have one more question

You mentioned to right a paragraph specific to our situation (visa,
etc). All the enclosed documents list takes up a whole page, should I
put the paragraph on the second page, or should my paragraph be on the
first page? I know it sounds minor, but when they open it up, what
should they see first?

Also, do you recommend dropping it off in person? Or mailing it?
Thanks
Lyn

Hello Lyn,

I put the paragraph on a sperate sheet of paper and included in before the cover letter checklist. It was a real simple and short paragraph written by my wife, pretty much just, "My name is Nanette, I came on a K1 in August 2003, married on Nov. 9, etc.

How are we supposed to know? Remember that old Johhny Carson skit, the Amazing Karnak where he put the letter up to his head. I assume that although the USCIS is a federal entity that each distric office has the managerial authority to mix things up a little????

I decided to mail mine rather than take it to Seattle. When I was there the other day I made the following observation:

I waited in line for about 45 mintues listening to some lunatic shouting goose noises out of one of the top floor windows. I assume that these are the holding tanks for the soon to be deported. A woman left a large suitcase next to me and then walked away/ Was that a ticking that I heard or the sound of my own hunger pains? Finaly, as I got to be the, "Next in line"... I walked up and talked to the guy which seemed to be the gate keeper. He explained that I was using an old checklist and offer my a new one, (the very one that I posted online). The old one that I was using requested a signature card for the EAD, (Which was why I went there). He offered to turn my documents into the, "Teller", but I thought it be safer to review them first. Also, jsut sort of nice to have that delivery confirmation from the post office

Rita,

My website can be goofy at times. PM me with your email address and I will email you the pdf file

Scott

PS: I put the pictures into little plastic holders that I cut out of a photo albumn and fastened them with little mine paper clips. Same way that I put them on the I-129f. I was going to use my 31/2 inch pnumatic autoloading framing nail gun, but figured that it would be to hard to ship my entire desk with it (I say that based on the frustration that I felt filing out the forms)...

I strongly recommend dropping if off in person, Lyn.

I did it and if nothing has changed in the procedure, the officer will go through the forms with you and make sure that all is in order, and stamp a date on them. I brought my own copy along and asked him to stamp that as well and he did!

From that experience, what he wanted to see first was Form I-485 and initial evidence. He gave me back my cover letter and didn't even glance at it. But that was back in August 2003.

I hope they didn't change such a workable process. The submission took about 10 minutes.

Rita your friend just emailed me back and was very helpful. The only thing that I did wrong was not follow the directions about the I-94. We are supposed to mail the original and not a photo copy

As far as taking your AOS to have them peruse it... I did not get the feeling that was a service that the guy at the front offered. I suspect that just as the checklist has changed, so has some other things....

Hmmm ....... changes yet again! I kept my original I-94 until the very end. It may be because I did not enter on a fiancee visa.

Not a huge problem for you though - just wait for them to send you Form I-72 requesting for the original?

Haha, thanks Scott. I feel your frustration with the forms currently.
I work at a portrait studio, so when I work on Sunday, I'm going to
have my coworker go nuts taking ADIT pics of me with the passport
camera. Then I'll use the negative protectors to put them in and
paperclip it to my G325A. I have to go back to Sears and "return" the
ADIT pics they took of me, she put them right into the little envelope
and told me to let it dry an hour, when I took them out i noticed she
scratched them when she was cutting them. More frustration. It just
doesnt make sense how we are supposed to just GUESS all this stuff. I
mean, I'm proud to be Canadian, but we're not PSYCHIC I think I
will mail it and go with delivery confirmation. I would go to
Seattle, but who knows how long I will have to wait, and all that.
Thanks again
Lyn

We are going for our green card inteview next Friday.
Has anyone gone through this in Seattle?
They never sent us any info on fingerprinting, I think this is strange.
I tried to fax a question into the Seattle INS and got no response.
Anyone who has been through the interview can you please post or email me at

That does seem strange.

My interview was at Seattle CIS in late January, two months after I was fingerprinted at Burien in late November 2003. I came here on a tourist visa and did not take the fiancee visa route, though.

Were you fingerprinted before? I have a list of FAQs regarding fingerprinting which indicates that you may not need to be fingerprinted if you were fingerprinted within the last 90 days. It also says CIS uses a national scheduling system for fingerprint appointments and often times there are problems with the system ..... :-(

Have you tried their Inquiries Fax number @ 206 553-5014 or emaling Case Inquiries at [email protected]?

Good Luck!
