I am sure this question has been asked before – but right at this time I was not able to find any old thread, please overlook my inadequacy.
My girlfriend is waiting to be a permanent resident of USA by family class possess. According to my lawyer if we get married now we have to wait 3 to 5 years then we both can land together and get our green card or If she became a green card holder before we get married it will take more that 5 years for me to be a permanent resident of USA.
My question is what happens if you married to a permanent resident of USA? I know about different priority class for both permanent resident of USA and US citizen. Is there any other kind of visa like “K”? If there is a visa type like that how long is the queue?
If you don’t have any opinion or suggestion about this issue – I would like to thank you just for reading my post. ~ Thanks !!

What category is your GF in?
If you marry a LPR then they can apply for you as can a USC. The difference of course is unlike a USC you need to wait for a visa number to become available, circa 5 years.
Only a USC can apply for a K3 Fiancee.

If your girl friend is waiting in the family visa process, it is best
that you get married now and wait for the green card interview.
Another option is that you may apply for a student visa, if you are
qualified and prepare to study further. If you satisfy this criteria
then you can stay in the US and then adjust status while in the United
States.

see, if his GF is going through the immigration process as an unmarried adult daughter of a USC, her waiting period will increase significantly if she gets married and, therefore, will get transferred to a Married daughter of a USC category. Sure, her husband will receive a GC with her, but it will be years later for both of them.

Well better to come in together later would be my assumption, but each to their own.
