January 28, 2014.

Will the consulate advise me to do it again ?
It's possible, yes, if your AP takes longer than Jan 28, 2014.

I wonder. Visas issued by the consular section in London expire 6 months after the date of the medical exam? Why? Perhaps because ... ?

Consulate has advised my medical will expire July 29th 2013.

We were thinking of getting an attorney involved, any thoughts?

Don't waste your money. Nothing can speed up the AP process.

Thank you for heads up, we are on 106 days of AP now. My fiancee just left going back to Dallas. Her still being able to travel here has made this whole process less painful.

Very frustrating my medical expires at the end of the month.

I totally understand the need to complete background checks but surely 17 weeks should be enough?

For some it goes beyond 52 weeks, I would encourage you to forget about it for now - when it happens it'll be a surprise.

I totally appreciate it takes a lot longer for some people, it's just difficult to forget about it when we really want to get married and start our lives together. Due to cultural reasons we don't have complete freedom from my father in law to be. Whole situation is getting difficult.

So here is my next question if we were have out Islamic wedding/nikkah would that count as marriage and invalidate the K1 process? Just trying to find a work around our situation

As long as the Nikkah ceremony does not count as a legal marriage in the country where it takes place, then the K-1 should still be valid. Be careful, though. Some folks who have done this have had to undergo further checks to make sure they are NOT legally married, if the embassy suspects there was some type of wedding performed.

In which country were you thinking of doing the Nikkah?

It's nothing concrete me and and her have just been speaking about it. If we were to do it would be here in London. I wouldn't want any further checks so kinda of put off the idea now

If you do it in London, it won't be a legal marriage if you just do the religious nikkah ceremony. A friend of mine (American woman) just had a nikkah ceremony in Wales with her Pakistani fiance, and they are still doing the K-1 visa.

Thanks Rene

We totally understand that we can't be together at the moment she has just landed a good job and I've taken redundancy so she needs to work until I'm settled there. She recently visited me here but we had to respect the whole cultural thing.
