Default Successful interview, San Bernardino, CA

Hi All,

    ))))

We had my AOS interview this morning at 7.30AM, San Bernardino Office. We
had a 'practice' interview a few weeks ago with my attorney.
We entered the building at 7.30 sharp after waiting at the parking lot in
our car. After 10 minutes we were called in.
Unfortunately I didn't really catch the name of our adjucating officer; he
was a nice, elderly man.

Apparently, he had not doing this for too long, and his (I assume)
supervisor was helping and instructing him (also an older man).
Actually I wouldn't be surprised if this was his very first interview,
because it took him a while to find his stuff and to put his stamps at the
correct year.
First thing he did was swearing us in, and take my fingerprint and
signature.
Then he started looking for my picture that was submitted with the I-485 but
couldn't find it.
Good that I brought a spare one. It was damaged, but according to the
supervisor it was acceptable.

I had brought a lot of evidence, but a lot of the same. The stack looked
impressive though.
He asked me what I had brought. I said everything I was asked for and some
more.
He asked me to show what I have.
I just covered his desk with paper, but he didn't really look at it.
He browsed through his own file but it seemed like he didn't really know
what he was looking for.
So his supervisor told him just to go through it form by form.
So far he hadn't really asked any questions.
He asked for "the" letter of employment, and I gave him mine. My wife (the
sponsor) didn't have one (happens to be unemployed since two weeks), but he
didn't bother asking for it although it was requested in the appointment
letter. He asked for our latest (joint) tax returns (to make his file
up-to-date), glanced at the income amount and said that it was enough.
He didn't ask, and we didn't bother to update the previously submitted I-864
with the info that my sponsor is currently unemployed or change our income
figures.
Wouldn't really matter, because my income is sufficient and we would also
have enought assets as a back-up. He looked briefly at the old I-864 and
asked my wife why it showed 6 people in the household instead of 2. My wife
answered that the other ones are her parents. He said OK, and didn't seem to
notice that that answer still leaves 2 people unaccounted for ;o).
Then he asked me about 6 of the questions from the I-485 form, and smiled
asking the question related to polygamy.
He glanced at the biographic forms and asked my wife if our names, my
parents names and her country of birth were correct, which we confirmed.
Then he ran a quick name check on his computer and asked if it was correct
that my employer had filed a I-140 for me before (denied), which I
confirmed.
Then the supervisor said " well, looks like it's complete to me", and our
officer pulled out his shoebox with stamps. He joked about putting a red
rejection stamp on my passport, and took his time to put a perfect red stamp
on a clean blank page in my passport. Then the supervisor asked for how long
we had been married and after hearing that it was less than 2 years he told
the officer to make it a conditional one and give me the notice for the
removal of conditions. He didn't have any so the supervisor went to grab
some.
Stamp-stamp...
Oops wrong expiration date....
manual correction....
check by my laywer....
another correction.
check by supervisor....
He congratulated us and lead us out to the waiting room.

Very quick and easy, pleasant experience.
Of course it helped that we have a very clean, straightforward case, no
issues at all, no missing paperwork, and best of all: my wife is 4 months
pregnant and showing... )))

Good luck to you all.

Congratulations. Glad to hear it went smoothly.

May I ask that you post this and your timeline on the Kamya.com site for AOS interviews. It will help having it centrally located for future users of the San Bernardino, CA office.

Thanks.

Rete, the links on that page seem to be specifically for people adjusting from K-1. We didn't use K-1, so should I post?

Yes. The top of the opening pages has links to adjusting from I-130 and DCF as well. Your experience will be placed in the appropriate spot.
Thanks
