Entering with the intent to adjust status
Finding oneself in the US with a desire (and way) to adjust status.
Within the 2nd category are several subcategories:
People who entered on the VWP and file for AOS within their 90 days
People who entered on the VWP and file for AOS after their 90 days
People who entered on a non immigrant visa and file for AOS
To most of us who've been watching this for a while, anything under one year doesn't seem like a not-fast time.

If you're comparing the K-1 fiance visa to the CR-1 Immigrant Visa (for spouse), the K-1 is a couple of months (maybe) faster, but the advantage of the CR-1 is that the visa holder becomes a PR right away upon entry to the USA.
Also, in some cases when the couple is already apart and want to start the process, the K-1 can be started right away (assuming they've met in person during the past 2 years), as opposed to waiting until they can meet again to get married and then start the CR-1 process.
Is that what you were comparing?
