Default Still waiting for AOS interview date in Chcago since March 2000

Well after 2 inquirey letters- the 2nd one sent from the chicago
office and signed by a supervisor in Customer service. She wrote
Urgent- schedual immediatly! on it.
We get a letter a month later telling us not to send any more inquiry
letters untill at least 90 more days have past! What BS. The customer
service womans eyes got big when she saw our date- She Knows we should
have had an interview by now - but said it must have 'fallen through
the cracks'. Again what bs...Id contact my congress woman but I am
afraid the vindictive office may hold things up more! What do you do
to get an interview???

It was almost 3 years before I got my AoS interview. I applied in June/98 and had an interview Feb/01.

Sorry to intrude... but may I ask were these AOS interviews for Conditional PR after arriving in the US on a K1 visa or for PR? Does it normally take that long to adjust status? This sounds like some horror story I'll be living through starting next year.

Yes, both experiences were after K-1 visa.
It's not that horrable, just inconvinient - you have to request EAD
every year,
and if you not live in Chicago, you have to take day off and drive
there to get
EAD, not to mention $100 for every EAD.
First you should get fingerprints notification, than interview can be
scheduled
If its taking more than 2 years - contact your local legislator.
He/she can inquire for you, and if there is any injustice, they can
fix it
(like INS lost your case or they denied you because they never change
your address to new and interview letter was send there).
You are more likely to get attention from your legislators office,
because of election season.
The only bright side of waiting 2 years or more - you getting
permanent green card for 10 years and you are not require to remove
conditions.
Interview itself was easy, but we were so ready - we had wine box full
of documents, read my experience here (May-June 2002) or on kamya.
Good luck, and don't try to inquire in-person, its waste of time.
