Default Slow Processing of EAD and Advance Parole in Nebraska

Did anybody recently received their EAD or Advance Parole from the
Nebraska Service Center on the basis of pending I-485? Does anybody
know why the processing of EAD and Advance Parole in Nebraska Service
Center has slowed down so much? Since last six weeks they are
reporting that they are working on the cases filed on 11/25/03. In
the first week of January they reported they were working on cases
filed on 11/14/03 and since then till the latest update on 2/20/04,
they have moved a mere 11 days. My wife's mother back home is
seriously ill and hospitalized and we are eagerly waiting for the
Advance Parole document. Our H1 and H4 visas have expired (we still
have H status till the end of the year) so we have been told that if
we leave the country without having the Advance Parole Document in
hand, we would be abandoning our I-485. We have struggled and been
exploited for six years by unscrupulous employers and now being closer
to the end of the proceess, don't want to give up all those efforts.

With such a family emergency, you may want to contact your Congressperson
and ask for help getting the A/P and EAD applications expedited.
