Hi Saha,
The "normal case scenario" going thru Mumbai rarely encounters difficulties.
i am sorry if any of my postings scare applicants. i do try to give facts as they are reported here on the boards. Some difficult cases have passed thru Mumbai and been recorded here. In general they involve "non-normal scenarios".

Best wishes,

What would be a non-normal scenario? I just got married in Pune on
Nov.5, 2002. I have begun the arduous process of applying for a K3.
Our wedding was a typical Vedic wedding. I am trying to get a "feel"
for what kind of process/waiting time I am in for. I am hopeful that
I will have a smooth experience. (And so is my wife!)

Despande:

Non-normal is Multi ethnic marriage or second marriage or marriage out of typical way that happens in India as arranged by parents/family.

First Welcome to the world of K3!! Not to worry but you would have to just go through as rest of us. You should be fine as long as you have plenty of time in hand. Meanwhile all you can do is get police clearance, marriage certificate, affidavit and all kind of paperwork ready for it. It will be pretty long way and decent of some patience and wisdom will be very handy.

Good luck and best wishes.

Note: I am in this process for last six months and still couple of more months may be need. My case is more just like yours.

Thanks for the reply Saha,

Yes i think i fall under the "normal marriage" scenario. I just am
hoping and praying that I don't have to wait more than 6 months. Are
you under some sort of 221g review? Or have you just found that it is
taking that long through the Mumbai consulate. I've read some horror
stories and they are quite discouraging. As everyone on this board, I
want nothing more than to be with my wife ASAP. I'm not sure if
you've posted your timeline else where, if so please provide a link or
write it below.

I heard that the police clearance is only valid for 30 days. I have
everything else completed. Just waiting for the wheels of government
to push everything right along. My brother actually did a 129F K1
about 2 yrs ago and it took him 4 months start to finish. Then
again...he's always been quite lucky! I'm just hoping for similar
luck I guess.

Hi,
Am in the process of geeting the K3 visa from Mumbai consulate. Will post the complete time line here.
Marriage - 18th April 2002
Application made to CSC - I-130 03rd June 2002
Application made to Chicago- K3 - 12th June 2002
Approval from CSC - I-130 - 30th Ocotber 2002
Approval from MSC - K3 - 25th November 2002
Have decided to move with k3 as same faster
File reached NVC- 06th December 2002
Awaiting for details to be forwarded to Mumbai consulate.
Also wish to inform you that there was a long silence from MSC on k3 and we were a group of people waiting for some news.
Almost all k3's have been approved now and pray that they have procedure in place to approve your applications faster.
Once the K3 papers reach Mumbai consulate a packet 3 will be issued. On informing the embassy that the readiness for interview an interview date wiull be issued after 2 months time.
No use pursuing them on phone as standard answer is that we will contact you. Thats my experience. Hope it can be of help to you.
And yes welcome to the K3 club ....
