Scheduling K1 Interview

Hi everyone!

My fiancée and I have been working our way through the K-1 Visa process. So far everything is going smoothly and relatively quickly from what I can tell from looking at other people's stories. The only delay we've had was that the embassy either never sent a packet 3 or it got lost somewhere along the way. I contacted them a couple of weeks ago and they told me it had been mailed two weeks prior to that and I should just download the forms, so no big drama there thankfully.

Anyway, on to my question. I just sent all the forms, including the readiness for interview, back to the embassy. I've been receiving conflicting adfice as to whether I can call to book an appointment or have to just wait for them to send the letter out. Does anyone have any experience of booking a K1 interview over the phone? If so. what number should I call? Finally, does anyone have any idea if there's any value in calling just to ask what's going on? And if so which number again?

Thanks for any help in advance

John

The Embassy will send you an appointment.

You cannot call to book an appointment, there is a call centre number for the Embassy to check on your case but it's known on here as the misinformation line, it's a premium rate number and goes to a call centre in scotland. The staff there only have as much information as you do.

Time to sit back and wait for the appointment letter to arrive, as long as you have the LND number you can schedule your medical if you haven't already done so, as this needs to be done before your interview.

Thanks, good to have a clear answer :)
My medical is already scheduled, it's tomorrow in fact. I'm heading off down to London later today to stay with my best Man who happens to live there presently. Rather nervous about being prodded and poked :-/

Use the search button at the top of the page on the yellow bar, you'll find lots of peoples posts about what happens, it really really isn't as bad as the 'immigration demons in your head are telling you.' The worst part is paying for it!
Hope it goes well.

Thanks, I know it isn't going to be bad REALLY. I just have always been uncomfortable with medical stuff. I think it stems from my mother having cancer and being hospitalized 9she got better) when I was a small child. I'm also paranoid about this whole visa application experience and will be half expecting a call saying I'm dying until I'm sure enough time has passed that they've definitely completed my tests. :-/

Thanks again for the help.

Hi Guys

I have a similar problem, however I think I might have messed up big time. When I eventually got my packet 3 (The original went to venus or mars) approx. 6 weeks later than expected, I approached it with verve and gusto.

But I only sent the IV-15 as that form clearly stated do not send any other paperwork. I guess that this is rather a large faux pas on my part and need to rectify it immediately. I have got all the other paperwork ready to go I think.

My questions are:

Exactly what do I send with the IV-15?
What's the gen about this new DS-160? i.e. do I need to submit one and if so where is it 'cos every time I bookmark a link it fails a few days later.

I appreciate anyone's immediate help out there

Thanks in advance

It tells you here exactly what you need to send in. I summary you should have sent:

DS-230 (part I only)
DS-156 (2 copies)
DS-157 (2 copies)
DS-156K

What you don't need to send is supporting documents such as birth certificate etc. nor your affadavit of support. As a K1 applicant you don't need to worry about the 160. The other things of note I picked up through my process is you don't need to send photos (even though the 156 has a place to attach them) and some f the forms need to be signed in-front of an embassy official at the interview - can anyone confirm exactly which ones as I can't remember?

If you send the forms immediately you should be ok. You'll probably have to contact the embassy and see if they want another DS-2001 (the new IV-15). Does anyone have any experience of this?

Cheers mate I think I eventually resolved it myself and sent all the stuff you mentioned and even added a DS-2001.

I hope at long last I can get back on schedule and get over there where I belong.

All the best with your own application mate
