For those interested...just wanted to provide info on our timeline for
AOS in San Antonio. We are doing a spouse (I-130) AOS for my husband
who is from The Gambia (West Africa):
He originally entered the US on an F-1 visa in December 2001
We married in the US in August 2002; he's maintained his F-1 student
status up to now.
April 23 - received USPS delivery confirmation; mailed
I-485/I-130/AP/EAD..etc. to SA District office the day before.
May 21 - Received 2 letters (in separate envelopes) from INS dated May
19th -
Letter #1) small cash register-type receipt (stapled to the corner)
and a letter stating that INS received our I-485 package. This letter
also indicated that it will take about 12 months to complete the AOS
process, and we were also informed that if we have applied for EAD
(which we had) that we are scheduled to appear on June 3rd at 8am, and
that my husband should not leave the country without applying for
advanced parole (yada yada yada)--which we had. Tucked behind letter
number #1 (in the same envelope) was his AP documents (2 copies with
color photos stapled together). The multi-entry AP was issued May
16th and it's valid until 5/16/2004.
Letter #2) Appointment for fingerprinting (for AOS
application)--scheduled for 7/8/03 at 8am.
I hope this is helpful for those of you going through AOS in SA. Many
thanks to those of you who've posted your EAD and AOS experiences thus
far.
