Roll Call

We made an inquiry into the status of my husband's green card application. The good news is that they haven't lost our file as we'd feared. The bad news is that the FBI still has not come back with the results of our background check (it's been 8.5 months since our AOS interview).
We were told that there's a backlog of 8 million cases nationwide and that this is perfectly normal and all cases are taking at least a year for the background check to clear. From following various forums and from people I know in RL, I know this is not the case. I've seen multiple cases of people who married, filed, and interviewed after us get their green cards already - even those who filed through the same office as us.
The latest excuse is that I'm a naturalized US citizen as opposed to a born USC. I'd like to take a poll for any willing to participate, to see if this bears out. If you put in your application after 9/11 and are willing to post your experience, please post:
- when & where you filed
- when you interviewed
- when you got your stamp or GC, or what your current status is
- whether the USC spouse is a born citizen or a naturalized citizen
Thanks to all willing to play!

Here's ours:
- when & where you filed
filed I-130 & I-485 on 8/12/02 in San Francisco
- when you interviewed
AOS interview 6/4/03; in interviewer's words, "approved as far as the marriage part goes"
- when you got your stamp or GC, or what your current status is
Currently awaiting clearance of background check
- whether the USC spouse is a born citizen or a naturalized citizen
USC spouse naturalized in 1991 at age 17
And BTW, my husband is Swedish so you would think that wouldn't be too much of a challenge as far as the background check goes.
