rescue meeeh pls.
I was apprehended by traffic policemen (and I think some INS officers) when I was driving. They thought I was driving under the influence of something and interviewed me on their car (at the passengers' seat; the one with grills). After awhile, I think that they didn't find anything wrong with me and let me drove back home.
After 2 weeks, I have received a bunch of letters from attorneys (and more letters after that) discussing about DUI and how I could possibly save myself from the charges if I hire them.
How did the lawyers found out about it? Is it possible that the DMV listed me on a "watch list" or something which may drive the INS to ban me from entering USA again, or say in re-newing my tourist visa?
Thanks and best regards.

It appears that you were not just stopped, but arrested and then released.
It would be important to know whether any charges were filed, although it
does not sound like it. I suppose that the arrest records are public
files.

Well, an arrest is something that would have to be reported to the INS
whenever they ask (I think they don't usually ask for tourists, but I'm
not sure). Unless you are convicted, there should not be any harmful
effects, though.

I wasn't given any ticket, so I suppose no charges were filed. But I was just wondering if its possible I wasn't given a ticket and yet a violation was filed, hence letters from the lawyers.
