Default Rescheduling of Citizenship Ceremony - LA

Does anyone know how long it normally takes to reschedule the citizenship ceremony if one couldn't make the originally planned one.

My wife was originally scheduled for the 22nd of January. In response to our request to postpone, the INS sent a letter stating they would send an invitation to a new ceremony at a later date. Still no word.

Is it worth writing a letter to Laguna Niguel??

Thanks in advance.

I don't know specifically about Laguna Niguel, but generally this would depend on the specific office involved, how many people are awaiting the oath ceremony, how often such ceremonies are held, and whether there's a judge available. Some have indicated that it's sometimes only a few weeks, but I've also heard that it can be 6 months or more! Good luck.

I've heard of several people with a substantial wait time after they rescheduled their ceremony (for everybody who ever considers it - not a good idea!!!), in one case it was about 6 months. I would recommend to get an Infopass appointment for LA office and inquire about your case. An immigration officer should be able to locate your file and see if you are scheduled for a ceremony or not. If you are lucky they will tell you an exact date...
