Default renewing visa in Mexico

Hi.
We're planning on driving to Neuvo Laredo to renew our visas....any advice? We've always gone to Canada or Europe in the past and the Mexican option seems a lot more complicated but a lot easier and cheaper to get to.

Be careful?
Little bit extra action going on around the border area there.

Thanks ...I'll take a look. It means we can renew our visas during the kids Xmas vacation but not worth the risk if it's looking dodgy.

Hi:

There are safe places to park in Texas -- see if you can take a taxi across the border -- or change taxi's at the border crossing.

Hi:

Has your current "visa" expired yet? If so, think twice about going into Mexico. A legal consultation would be in order.

Thanks for all your replies. After reading the travel warnings on the US embassy web page we've decided to cancel our Mexico appointment and head to Vancouver in January instead(Brrrrr..!) The kids will be delighted when I tell them they can have some time off school after all and that they'll be able to do some skiing
I appreciate everyone's advice

Probably best not to drive into Mexico, unless you are familiar with conditions there and have the right insurance.

Vancouver itself is more likely to be wet than especially cold in January, but will seem chilly compared to southern Texas.

We've been to Vancouver before both summer and winter...I'm hoping there's some snow as the kids really miss it (not me though!!)Last time we renewed our visas in Toronto it was -25....brrr....
