Default Renewal of Green Card: Will not filling tax effect my status for renewal?

My Green card will expire in 2006 and I would like to renew it. I did
not file taxes for the year of 2002, since I was not working and I
went back to college. I will be filing taxes this year, for 2003. I
also have a misdemeanor for domestic violence on my record, but was
not convicted and served no jail time. Other than that incidence my
record is clean. I have been told the misdemeanor could hurt my
chances, as well as not filing for taxes in 2003. Is this correct?
Will I have any problems renewing my green card?

If you are not convicted how do you have a misdemeanor?

Natuarlization application asks stuff about filing income taxes etc but you may want to check if greencard renewal application asks those questions as well.

I belive they both have different processes, for example naturalization requires an interview while renewal did not have one, at least until recently.
