Hi everyone, it's good to see that some of the familiar names are
still around.
It's been a while since i last posted.
I came originally on the K1 Visa and got my conditional permanent
residency in January of 2003 in Albany, NY.
Last August of 2003 me and my wife Jen relocated from Albany NY to
Houston TX. I sent my change of address request to some office in
Kentucky as well as requests to Albany Office and Houston office
notifying them of my change of address. But i did not receive any
confirmation of receipt.
Today i decided to go and Visit the Houston Office and inquire about
the status of my file, check if it was transferred or not. The officer
told me that my file is not in Houston and he also told me it appears
that it's not in Albany either. He said he thinks it's at the National
Center of Records ??? he said he thinks when october comes and i send
my removal of conditions application, Houston will pull out my file
from the NCR..
For some reason i am not very comfortable with what the officer said,
especially that he was not very confident. I would really appreciate
your thoughts on this and what do you think i should do ??
Thanks,
Zik

Don't laugh but the officer is correct. Since your residency has been approved there is no reason for Albany to still have your file. It has in all likelihood been archived in the mines of Lee's Summit, MO where all our files eventually wind up.
When you do file for removal via form I-751 at the TSC, your file will be sent for by TSC for adjudication of the I-751. If an interview is required it will be forwarded to Houston, TX district office.
Assuming your spouse is your finanical sponsor, you have not said that they have filed a change of address as well. Not 100% sure but believe that might be form I-826.

The sponsor has to file form I-865 to notify USCIS of the address change.
