I successfully received my Interim EAD card after waiting 104 days for
its processing.

After driving two and a half hours, I arrived at the Distrit Office at
5:40am, to meet two cars waiting in the parking lot. The line formed
shortly thereafter, which put me in the top five. The doors opened at
7:30, I passed through security and told the Officer I was here today
to request an Interim EAD card.

When my number was called I went to the window, and was told that the
wait would be another two hours as the photo process did not begin
before 10:00am. I filled out another I-765 application form, and was
called into have the photo taken after 10:00am.

At 10:45 I was leaving with my Interim EAD card in hand after waiting
104 days.

Before leaving I asked the Immigration Officer what is the current
time frame on interviews he said it is now 16 months, not 12 months.
The officer also told me that I was eligible to request my Interim EAD
card on the 91st day of my application, once the original EAD card had
not arrived.

So I hope my experience helps, other Charlotte NC adjusters,or anyone
waiting on employment authorization.

I am starting a new job on Monday so lets just say it was well worth
the drive!

When does you interim card expire?

I had pretty much the same experience in Denver...my interim EAD is valid for 90 days only. It's just terrible that they make us come to the local USIAD offices every 3 months to get interim cards while our AOS are pending. Aren't they making more work for themselves that way: issuing interim EADs for the same group of people every three months.... it doesn't make sense to me at all.

just to let you know my ead was approved 3/11/04 i have a receipt notice of 11/7/03 so they are getting there slowly. i got my interim on the 2/27/04 and that was only valid for 30 days

Hi Goodgirl_J,

The Interim EaD I received this week is valid for 8 months. When I
called the Customer Service Number last week I was told that the card
would be issued for thirty days, so I am pleased that this is not
correct.

Thank you. This has been a very good week for me, and its good to have
a new perspective for the upcoming week.

Thank you for being an impetus in my decision to make the trip to
Charlotte. From here we will see how the remainder of the process
progresses.

Do you know whether I can expect to receive the original 1 year EAD
card in the mail, or will that approval come via an appointment
letter, resulting in another drive to Charlotte?
