Default Reasons for denial of K-1

Hi. My fiance has his K-1 interview in 2 days and I am a nervous wreck.
What are some reasons that the embassy could deny his K-1? He is going for
his interview in South Africa. I know all embassies are different, so I am
just looking for a general answer.

Thanks

Lili

if all the paper work is correct, then you pass the interview. Since it's
in S. Africa the most corrupt nation in the world, they might want to get
some money from you.

Relax! Your boyfriend is gonna be fine. They shouldn't deny his visa
unless he has some kind of criminal record or is HIV positive.

If you really think South Africa is the "most corrupt", you need to get
out more.

That title is probably reserved for Nigeria or another country in
Africa, not S Africa

I have had experience with corruption in North America, South America,
Europe, and Asia, so I wouldn't be surprised if it also exists in
Africa.
However, I would tend to think it more likely outside the country of
South Africa, then inside.

I grew up in South Africa, living in Durban until I was 21 and emigrated and still have all my family there. The corruption in South Africa used to be about race - if you were white you never needed a bribe and if you were not a bribe wouldn't get much. Now, however, there is sometimes the opportunity to pay for favors (eg a pass on your drivers test) but it is not systemic and not usual.

Good luck

I have a stupid question. I have been going under the assumption all along
that the interviewers in these consulates/embassies are Americans. Are they?
