Default Questions regarding Packet 3

Hi

Just when I thought I had read everything and lurked for about a year on the
newsgroup, when it comes to filling in the forms I am none the wiser in parts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am a UKC marrying a USC and we have received the 2nd NOA for our K1-Visa. To get
the ball rolling with the Embassy in London, I have downloaded the 'packet 3' from
the INS website it turns out to be form OF 169.

On form OF 169, it instructs to complete and return form OF-230 Part 1, Application
for Immigrant Visa. Looking for the form to download all I can find is DS-230 Part 1.
Is this the same form???

Again on the OF 169 it asks for evidence of support using the form I-864. On
downloading and reading this form it states that the I-864 must be submitted for
'family based applicants and employment based applicants'. Other applicants must show
other means of support'.

I don't consider myself to be family based, (it just myself that is applying for the
K1) so do I use the I-134 to show evidence of support? On the (http://www.k1faq.com)
it mentions forms OF-156 -- Non-Immigrant visa application form and theOF-156K --
Non-Immigrant fiance(e) visa application that might be included. Can anyone tell me
if I am required to complete these, as I see no mention of needing to complete these
in neither the OG 169 nor the OF 230?

Thanks in advance

David

I recommend going to the us embassy website for the uk, they give the instructions
there, this link: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_web...processing.htm
should help.

I just sent my forms in yesterday, they consisted of the IV-15 (3 sheets), DS-230
part 1 (2 sheets), DS-156 (2 sheets), DS-156K (1 sheet), and DS-157 (1 sheet).

Your USC partner will need to fill out the I-134 on your behalf for you to bring to
the interview, as it is listed on the IV-15 as a required document.

The OF forms have mostly been superseded by the DS forms, and I believe they no
longer accept the older OF forms, the DS-157 is also a new document not listed on the
fiancé(e) visa page, you can download it from
http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_web.../visaforms.htm

Oh, and you are using a family based visa, as oppose to employment or another
category visa, you plus your partner equals a family, believe it or not.

The OF-230, OF-156, OF-156K along with some others have been replaced by the DS-230.
See http://travel.state.gov/visa_services.html I believe you will fill out the I-134
for the K-1. Later you will fill out the I-864 for AOS. At leas that's what I've been
told and am doing myself.

The OF-156 and OF-156K have NOT been replaced by the DS-230. They have been replaced
by the DS-156 and DS-156K, respectively. Dave.

sorry, I should have finished. Yes, the DS-230 replaces the OF-230, the DS-156
replaces the OF-156 and the DS-156K replaces the OF-156K. Dave, I can see where you
(and maybe others) were confused by that sentence.

What I typed was not what I meant. There would be no way of you knowing what I meant
since when you read my post you thought I was saying the DS-230 was replacing all
those forms. What I really meant was that the DS forms had begun replacing the OF
forms. I'm not saying you're a confused person, or confused about the forms. Actually
it was my wording that confused my message.

I'm very glad to know you're not confused Dave. And I'm also glad you filed your
forms already.

Thanks, John

Sorry John - I'm pretty stressed out over all this K-1 stuff, and it's rubbing off on
all sorts of things. I hope you can forgive me for being such a wanker. Dave.

Not a problem. I feel the stress as well. Good luck to your fiance at her interview.
