Default Questions/Concerns Re: TSC & K1 (I129F)

I don't know how many hours I've spent pouring over story after story
on the internet about K1 timelines.
I'm now officially freaking out!
My 1st NOA is dated Nov 13th.

My wedding date is in the US on May 16th - invites are going out soon
and my friends are starting to already make their reservations.

Those of you that have filed at the TSC - please help!

Am I screwed? We have already output ALOT of money for wedding
expenses!

Thx!

Don't know why you did not get the answers. It is pretty straightforward.

1. After receiving your K-1, you have six months to use it,
in other words: to enter the US on that visa.
2. After entering the US on a K-1, you have three months to
get married.

Does that help?

I hope you make it. We also made legal arrangements around out INS
approval times at great expense trying to get my fiancee's child out of
Argentina. Now looks like the deadline we have of March 30 is about to
be vaporized by the INS. We filed 9-17 and our 1st NOA was 9-27.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Tom, Contact the embassy in Buenos Aires and have her do her DS-230 part 1 and get a file number. Email them, or have her pay 26 pesos for a visit by going to I think its Banco Ciudad,

If for some strange reason TSC actually moves on your petition this month, you will get your interview date faster once its approved. If you paid for cabling you might get that faster to BA but if you advise them via email or fax of an approved petition they will let her know what she needs to do next. . Also, address your emails to : the Honorable US Consul in Buenos Aires . The CG/IV may respond directly. Print all the emails and send it when it comes time to send her to interview.

She can do her police certificate in Capital Federal now, and her medical exams. You'll save time.

i made absolutely NO wedding plans and spent no money because i knew i was dealing with the good ole US government. it seems funny that if they want something from us, then we have to hurry and do everything as fast as possible but when we want something from them, then its hurry and wait..... and wait, and wait some more, and then try not to go nuts and so on. i really hope they get their ass in gear in time for your wedding plans DeAnna, on my end though, ive just given up all hope on the INS being timely. im just going about daily life like i never mailed in the stupid forms and when they get approved, they get approved. otherwise i would go nuts. (think im already there lol)
good luck to you

Well if TSC is anything like NSC, your fiance' should be here by next May 2004!
Nahh....it seems like TSC is A LOT faster than NSC! I hope for your sake!
You are couragous planning all this and paying for it all before knowing that your fiance' is even approved and granted a visa! My fiance' isn't buying his plane ticket till after he has his visa in hand! You have some faith in the system.
I hope all works out for you-T.

We had made tenative plans to get married this past Christmas. We did not set them in concrete because we knew what could happen and obviously we haven't been approved yet since we are still waiting on the TSC. Our 1st NOA was 10/10/2002. Your NOA is over a month after ours. We are now aiming for a wedding date around the first week in May, but I have my doubts about that too at this point. This is why a lot of us here have small weddings or informal ones. Not the wedding of many peoples dreams for sure, but what I want more than anything is just to live happily ever after, so the end for me justifies the means.

I don't know if you will make your time frame, but I wish you luck.

Cheers,

leslie

Would it be possible for you to postpone the date? When we did our wedding preparations for our wedding in France, we had reserved the date for the reception place (8 months in advance), but we confirmed the reservation only after I had my AP (3 months before the wedding). Sometimes, reception places will also let you postpone under certain circumstances without loss of retainer (as long as you keep them as reception place...). If that is possible, it might put your mind more at rest. After all, a wedding is supposed to be a lot of fun!

We had also told all of our guests that we would get married in France on May 4th INS permitting, meaning that we asked people to reserve the week-end, and we gave them the green light to buy air plane tickets and make travel arrangement, only once I had my AP. We sent the invitations less than 2 months before the wedding date, but in the end everything worked out fine. I guess we were very lucky to have an understanding reception place...

Wishing you the best of luck!
Caroline
