Question re home residency requirement
Some J-1 visas have a requirement that the person return to their home
country for an aggregate of 2 years after the J-1 is over, before being
eligible for an immigrant visa. As I understand it, this 2 years can be
done in "chunks", in other words it can be done in several segments that
just have to ADD UP to a full 2 years.
My question is this. Can anyone here recall any case posted to this
newsgroup where an embassy tried to disallow adding up the various chunks of
time, and instead said the person had to serve the 2 years continuously, or
else disallowed certain brief time periods as not counting toward the 2
years?
Thanks!
