Default question about wedding and law in USA

hi
I'm french and i'm planning to go on vacation by the end of the year in
USA, so without a visa ,as a simple tourist. I"m thinking of marry someone i
love since 2 years there. so if i go ask for marry her , will it be possible
or not ?
will i be able to stay with her ?

Entering on a Visa Waiver with the intent on residing in the US is
illegal. I advise honesty at the Point of Entry.

Marry in the US? Given the choice, I would rather marry in France.
