Question about certification of Ukrainian documents

Hello,
My fiancée and I are preparing all of the documents specified in Packet 3 from the
Warsaw Embassy. I understand that they require certified copies of her birth
certificate, divorce decree, etc. However, we're a little confused as to which
Ukrainian authority must certify the documents. For example, there's the Management
of Justice of Crimea (Crimea is the region in which she lives) and then there's the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
I made copies of her original birth certificate (and the certified translation) for
our K1 petition. It seems that is all the Warsaw Embassy will need - the actual
originals.
Does anyone have experience with this (Ukrainian fiancée and Warsaw interview) that
they can share? Like many of you, we've waited so long and don't wish to get the visa
denied on a technicality.
Also, one other question comes to mind. The Warsaw Embassy will issue a K1 entry visa
for the USA. Does she also need any sort of exit visa for the Ukraine (besides the
international passport)? We would like to return to her home city for a visit
sometime in the future.
Thanks in advance,
Tony and Irina

Hi Alvena,
Thanks so much for the link However, I'm still not certain what "level" of
certification is required by the Warsaw Embassy. The local registrar (at the records
archive) certified my fiancee's birth certificate and divorce decree. However, is it
necessary (for K1 purposes) to then have the Ministry of Justice to authenticate the
seal of the notary, and then have the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to authenticate the
seal of the Ministry of Justice, AND then have the U.S. Embassy in Kiev authenticate
the seal of the Ministry of Justice? See what I mean?
As for other Ukrainian fiancées, I wonder what their experiences were? Did they take
their documents through all four steps of certification or is the seal and signature
of the local notary sufficient to satisfy the requirements of the U.S. Embassy?
Thanks again for your help.

My fiancé was approved in Warsaw on Aug 14. Find my post on Aug 15, My fiancé's
Warsaw interview details, Aug 14.
Warsaw publishes a complete guide to the K-1 process. We used it, along with the down
loaded form from the site, with absolutely no problems!
Additionally, Warsaw will answer all email questions fairly quickly!
