Question on 325a for my son

Re: Question on 325a for my son
Elaine,
There are not 3 alternative visa scenarios for a spouse (and child), there are only 2 - CR immigrant visa and K non-immgrant visa.
In either scenario, the first step is an I-130 petition. If that 1st step can be taken at a consulate (DCF) rather than at a CIS service center, great. DCF provides a short-cut to an application for CR visa, not an alternative to it.

I don't think there are other options, assuming you've looked into the possibility for him qualifying as a US citizen. If he is your son he may be able to claim citizenship.

Hi Elaine,
I just got off the phone with CIS. They dont know anything about CR-2.
They said to just file the I-130 and go through the same process as I
did with my wife. (but no 325a)
Well, now I know. I just hope that other people dont totally believe
information they hear from friends. I am sure that they ment well.
They probably got confused with K1/K2.
Oh Well, everything will work out ok,I hope.
I hope that other people dont make that same mistake.
Thanks Again,
Larry

True -- but filing of the I-130 for the kid was NOT required for issuance of the K-4 visa.
