Default Port of Entry preparations

Hi,

I have my passport and CR1 visa, worth envelope for the border patrol. We've paid the USCIS fee as well.

I've gone to check in to our flight to LA and I can't as it states my passport and visa must be checked at the airport. I assume this is standard procedure for this kind of travel?

We are traveling together so think we are prepared for the POE but is there anything we should consider that may trip us up?

thanks

JT

Yes, that is standard.

if you have a connecting flight, make sure you have enough layover time to get through immigration. 3 or 4 hours recommended.

Do not pack your large white envelope in your stored luggage. Either hand carry it and/or place it in your carry on luggage. You do not require your x-ray.

Be prepared to give the address you will be staying/using for the mailing of your green card.

And safe travels.

Might sound a silly question but... I take it once you have that white envelope you will not need to apply for an ESTA as well to enter the US? Just asking as my ESTA ran out this year and was wondering if I needed to renew it.

We had our I-797 NOA today so the pace is starting to quicken at last
