Processing times - should I be worried?

Hi

I checked the new processing times for Louisville and they are working on I-485s filed Oct. 1, 2003. We filed on Sept. 11, 2003, but we have not heard anything. I'm starting to get worried....

What do you guys think? Is this normal?

Kari

I hope you'll hear something soon, Kari....
Could you give them a call in the morning?

I have never been able to find a phone number for my local office. I called the National Customer Service line once and they gave me a number that no one ever answers.

Duh! Where were you able to find that? I had another number that was to the detention center, but I could never get a live person on the phone.

Thank you so much! I will call them first thing tomorrow morning.

Thank you so much. I was worried we would have to go down there in person just to ask a question.

Isn't that the number for the *mis*information line? I thought it was the last time I checked. I don't think they could give Kari any useful info.

Glad to see how quick L'ville is in processing applications compared to some offices!! Bodes well for our AOS when we get to it. Hey Kari, how fast did your hubby get his EAD approved?? We're trying to figure out how long Scott will be out of work (so I can work him around the house :D).

Yeah, the 1-800 number is the customer service line, so I don't expect much help from them, but hopefully the local number will help. We never got a case number when we filed which bothers me as well. We filed in person and got a hand written receipt that only showed the amounts paid - which of course we lost. I am so organized and have every shred of paperwork filed away and that *one* receipt is missing - jeez. I could always order copies of my checks if I need to, though.

The Louisville local office is really great. They were so friendly and helpful. We had a lot of issues of the SS office and the DMV, but it wll worked out. Mostly time consuming.

I was wondering how easy it would for Scott to obtain his SSN here. So you had some difficulty? I've printed out that memo that states that K1 visa holders can get an SSN, so I hope that will help. I haven't checked into the DMV laws yet, so I guess it's not easy to get a DL in KY?

He had problems with being updated in the SAVE system, which probably was not the fault of the local office. He never was found in the system so they had to eventually send off for written verification of his status.

The DL situation was a major hassle - primarily because the employees had no idea what their own regulations were nor did they care. You have to have 30 days prood of residency in KY, EAD, and SSN. You also have to obtain a letter that summarizes your status from an office in Buechel to take with you. It's called "the blue letter", but you can't get it until you have the EAD and SSN. I have the address and phone number of the office if you need it. He had to also provide a translation of his driver's license.

Just wondering if anyone else had an opinion on this.

Thanks
