I'm feeling like a tooth fairy short on work here..

What way are you traveling that 2 months to get from UK to LA? Ship? It makes a difference.

Rete, thanks for the votes of confidence. It's just one of those little oddities that doesn't come up very often, and the folk we normally read on the MB boards are usually so eager to get to the US that they travel well in advance of the medical expiration.

thanks meauxnam,
yes ship. the container will be held in the uk for a few weeks then arrive after we do. believe me, it's not about lack of eagerness, it's about how difficult it is to sell a house and get a new job in this climate!
we complete next friday, are in the middle of packing up our entire life and need to let our kids say goodbye to their grandparents. then we are heading off to see relatives around the world with flights and accom already booked until 2nd july. there is unfortunately no time for a leisurely long weekend in NY, i literally have 1 day i can go the US in advance of the 25th June, and that's next friday. I just wanted to check if i could do it in a day.

thanks very much for your help on this.
best
j

TX, I'm still confused why you continue to say June 25th? You do know that you have to enter the US on the 24th of June. Not initiate the flight on the 24th, but complete it on the 24th. The only way around that is to go through Dublin because I believe you claim US immigration in Dublin before you board the plane, unless things have changed recently.

Actually I can see where this would not normally come up simply because you are not suppose to have the medical until you have been scheduled for your interview. In that way, the medical has only been valid for only a few weeks or days and therefore the IV would be valid for the full 6 months it normally is valid for. So, there is a really good reason not to go rushing to have the medical too early.

I got my I-r1 on the 3 Feb this year so should have 6 months to travel in, So visa should expire on the 2 Aug, but my visa in my passport expires on the 9 jun which is one day before my Medical is one year old.
My first set of paper work was lost so had to send it all again, which is why my medical is so old.
Hope this helps
