Hi All,

I just filed marriage-based I-485 (derivative adjustment) last week. My wife's I-485 has been pending for 20 months. I think she will get approved in a few months.

What are the chances of BCIS will process our cases together? My receipt notice date is Mar 1, 2004. The notice says it will take 600 days to process my case.

Could anyone share similar experiences? I have waited for so long.

1999_July Practical training expired, H1-B quota full
1999_Oct H1-B approved and was told it is ok to start
working. didn't realize I had to go back to home
country to get visa stamp because the approval
notice doesn't have I-94 form attached
2000_July successfully obtained visa stamp at US embassy
no interview was conducted, still didn't realized
the problem at the time.
2002_Mar married college sweetheart in court
2002_July wife lawyer said I worked without authorization in
the past and I must adjust my status overseas
2002_July wife filed I-485, filed I-824 for myself
2002_Oct got 221g when applying for H1-B revalidation
2003_Nov panic because H1-B will expire soon
2004_Jan consulted wife's lawyer again, he said we can try to
prove that BCIS made mistake in the first place
2004_Feb broke the news to former lawyer who did my H1-B.
she decided to write a letter to BCIS to fix the
problem
2004_Feb wife lawyer filed I-485 for me. he attached former
lawyer's letter with application and stated that it
was BCIS's mistake and I should be allowed to get
adjusted in the US.
2004_Mar former lawyer called and told me the problem is
fixed. corrected H1-B notice was issued. Hurray!!!!
