Default Poverty guidelines.....do they change?

Hi I was looking at the poverty guidelines in preparation for I-864 and it said at the bottom of the page that they may change in Spring 2010....does anyone have any experience of these changes ie. when they happen and how much it increases???? (I assume it would increase rather than decrease) just wondering as my soon to be hubby is considering a change of job and although the salary would be over the guidelines currently as they may change soon Id like to be sure before he changes.....thanks in advance for any answers!

Yes, the I-864P (Poverty Guideline) is updated every April. During that past 6 years, I've only seen it increase, never decrease.

One never knows how much it will increase until the new I-864P is made public.

But don't be worried about Spring 2010...that's done already. There won't be another increase now until April 2011.

Oh, I see....USCIS is still showing the 2009 poverty guidelines: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

To my knowledge, an updated one hasn't come out.

But again, there's no way to know how much, if any, it will increase.

The HHS web site says, "Congress has taken action to keep the 2009 poverty guidelines in effect until at least May 31, 2010." Hopefully there should be an update soon!

This is usually an easy way to find out...
