Default Please help me.. a Japanese male F-1 student trying to marry an American citizen

Hi... So many things are happenning to me and I really need somebody's
help. I am going to have a baby with my American fiancee this comming
fall and we are trying to get married, and I am getting ready to
graduate from a college and getting ready to start university from this
fall... I would love to know what do we have to do to get maaried (in
our situation with comming baby...), and how long it would take for us
to be married officially. Also I would really like to know when I am
going to be (how long it would take for me to be) able to apply for the
university as a domestic student (not as an international student).
Thank you so much for reading my question, and hope to hear any kinds of
answer from somebody...

Hi Jun,

Congratulations, first of all. I don't know where you live, but here in Arizona, you can apply for the marriage license and get married the same day. Check your local county website for information on getting married. Unless you're still married to someone else, it's pretty easy to get married.

You'll have to check with your university to see what their requirements are for considering you a "domestic" student, instead of international. I believe each university has their own criteria.

Best Wishes,
Rene

first of all you need to get married, call your local court house and ask them how does it go in your county.

u would remain an "out of state" student, paying the full out of state
tuition even after marriage. however, when u marry and file your AOS
(adjustment of status) and recieve your AOS receipt, u can hand that to
the international office to terminate your F1 visa. (u can still choose
not to). so the only thing that would change is the requirment of full-
time attendance. by terminating your F1 u can register as part time or
suspend school semster all togather.

paying domestic fees has nothing to do with marriage. u have to prove to
your state that u intend to live permenantly there, and there are plenty
of guidelines for that, but unfortunatley u can only obtain those from
your school admission office. every state has a different guidelines
and requirments for changing status to that of "in-state". however, the
general rule require u to have the permenant residency first before
applying to "in state". thats the only link to the marriage u intend to
do. because without a successful AOS, u wont get the Green Card (a proof
of permenant residency)

if u decide to marry and start your immigration process, i advise u to
check the USCIS website
http://uscis.gov/graphics/services/residency/index.htm for the complete
information and forms regarding immigration through a family member.

Good luck
Brandon
