Payment at the Embassy

Hi again :)

Paranoia is striking and now I'm worried about something else!!
Payment for the interview/medical for a K-1 visa. I have no cash only
a USA credit card - can I use this to pay??

Thanks again and good luck
Rebecca

What consulate are you going through ?

For London, the medical can be paid with any Visa/Mastercard.

However, for the K-1 visa itself, the consulate send a payment slip with Packet #4 that must be taken to a Barclays bank before going to the consulate and paid for in cash over the counter. The bank stamps the slip and you give that to the Consulate at the interview.

Hey, Thing2, what was the payment for the K1 for the London Consulate? Thanks :)

i mentioned this in my lengthy interview post... after the medical and before the interview, we spend a VERY long time searching out a barclay's bank to pay for the visa. we paid cash. you can actually pay at any bank, but they may charge a fee, which barclays does not.
the one we finally found and used was in portman square.

DIRECTIONS DISTANCE

1: Start out going South on GREAT CUMBERLAND PLACE towards WYTHBURN PLACE. 0.1 miles ( 0.1 km)

2: Turn LEFT onto UPPER BERKELEY STREET. 0.1 miles ( 0.2 km)

3: UPPER BERKELEY STREET becomes PORTMAN SQUARE. 0.1 miles ( 0.2 km)

Total Estimated Time: Total Distance:
1 minutes 0.3 miles ( 0.4km)

I've never been through this but by the sounds of it, if it works the way these things usually do, the slip is a Bank Giro slip with the account you are paying into being held at Barclays Bank?

If so, Barclays and also your own bank if someone has one in the UK, should not charge you.

Wouldn't the easiest thing be to pay before the day of the interview?

I live(d) in London and work (well, I used to work - I'm in my last hour of work as I write this) 5 minutes away from the Consulate. As keatslamia says, you can use a bank other than Barclays, but may be charged a fee. It can be any Barclays - even your local one - you get the receipt when you receive the interview instructions and Packet #4. Alternatively in London, off the top of my head, there's a Barclays on Regent St, near Hamleys; one in Lower Regent Street (just off Piccadilly Circus), and one in Hanover Square (just off Oxford St @ John Lewis)

Yup. That's what I did, and I also added above that it can be paid at any Barclays, even your local one. It can be paid as soon as you receive your Packet #4, even if the interview is weeks away.
