Default Paying for AOS with check

I can't find anywhere that tells me if I can pay the fees associated with
AOS with a personal check or with a money order. Also, must there be three
seperate checks (I-131, I-485, & I-765) or can I submit a single check/MO???

Thanks!

We paid with seperate personal cheques last year for AOS, there wasn't a problem. However if the process has changed I hope somebody else will let you know. It is better to send seperate cheques/MO then if there is a problem with one form and it is returned to you for corrections, at least the other forms can begin to be processed. Don't forget to include cheque for fingerprints.

Found this on USCIS site:

it states clearly on the instruction page of the I-130,.. and of the fiance
visa that you can pay with a personal check,.. if it is returned you will
pay a $30 fee,..
it states this VERY clearly,.. also info about paying with a money order,..
the US government accepts personal checks for filing fees,..
AOS,.. I-129,..I-130,.. sprite,.. 7UP,..
the government accepts personal checks,.. PERIOD.
also,.. there are many reports here about recieving advance notice of
receipt numbers printed on checks before the actual notice of the receipt
number was sent, or recieved,..
sorry,.. you did not even read the basic instructions,.. you may want to
hire a lawyer to help you fill the papers if such a simple thing escapes
you,...

Yeah Wayne, I did read the instructions and saw they accepted personal
checks. But knowing how well the government provides current information I
wanted to verify with a more reliable "agency"!

MRSM, thank you for your thoughts on the individual checks! I was thinking
the same thing last night after I posted. I can also watch my on-line
account and see when they cashed the checks.

Thanks to both of you for responding.

Thats not necessarily true.... We sent in personal checks for our AOS
forms to the Houston office .... Houston does NOT accept personal checks.
We had to send everything back with money orders.
Obviously it depends on the office you are dealing with.

Hi, Jim.

Take a look at this link: http://uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffic...ices/index.htm

Go to your state, and then click on the local office link. It'll tell you there if you can use personal checks or not.

It's probably wise to make a separate payment for each form. That way, they won't get confused and send your apps back, and you can also reference each one with the form number, just to make sure they match them up properly.

FYI - Just to relay a bit of info, I had to go down to the Arlington office, where David was submitting his 485 and 765, because they would not accept my checks without me there. So, if you're submitting in person, just be sure you're there if your name is on the check. And we paid in three separate checks, only because mis-information line told us to do that to be on the safe side.
