i entered the US when i was 6 years old on my parents work visa. i
lived in the states for the next 15 yrs where i met and fell in love
with my fiancee at college. the problem is, somewhere along the line
my fathers visa expired, and unbeknowst to me at some point during
those 15 years i was illegally in the country as well as working
illegally. however i was unaware of most of these details at the time
because i was very ignorant of my immigration status. becuase i
arrived in the us at such a young age and grew up there, i always
assumed i was legal and was committing no violations. in other words,
my parents never told me that we were illegal or that i couldnt work.
i now live in the uk and we are about to submit the I 129f and i am
drastically worried that i will be subject to a 10 year ban as my
overstay was significant, as well as working illegally. i was
wondering if anyone has any experiences with children who were
unknowingly brought up illegally and didnt really have any choice in
the matter, and then applyed for a visa.
thanks for any help in this matter as it would be greatly appreciated.

You will need a waiver, and it might be impossible to get.
You would have been in much better shape if you had never left the US as
overstays are generally forgiven when marrying a US citizen and
adjusting status.
I recommend an attorney, at least for the waiiver process.
You are responsible for the overstay after age 18.
