I am generally in charge of all paper, he is forbidden to touch it Actually, I think he won't be allowed to even look at it from a distance.

lol but if he legally must carry the green card at all times - does that mean I am to tag along after him, one step to the side and two steps behind?

The "green card" isn't paper.... it's plastic, more like a driving licence.

My husband carries his.

If it has writing on it, I bet it'll be paper to Keith

No it isn't. At least it wasn't when I filed my I-485 to adjust from F-1. I think it was something like $130 or $150 extra, but this was before the fee increases, so I think it's more now.

It's always a good idea to check current information before sending anything to USCIS.

Since last July, the fee for AOS (I-485) includes the fees for both EAD (I-765) and AP (I-131).

So it makes no sense at all not to file for AP unless one is *not eligible* to use AP.

I agree. I hadn't looked at this information since before I filed.

Of course the irony is that is seems to take them as long to process the AP and EAD as the AOS anyway, so they aren't that beneficial.

Not if your AOS gets stuck in name check hell for years....then the AP and EAD are very beneficial.

It's no different than losing a driving licence or a credit card, and you don't take it out often. If he's the type to lose an entire wallet (or get pickpocketed ) then best not he carry it. I'm extremely forgetful but have never lost my entire wallet/purse or my DL/PP/CC. In fact I carry my passport at all times in case I win the lottery and feel the need to take a sudden holiday.

Or if you are using a district office where the wait for an AOS interview is 12 to 18 months.
