Hi everyone!
So we went to our AOS interview in Oklahoma City today. We barely waited for 15 -20 minutes. Then a VERY nice guy led us to his office, where we took on oath. He then invited us to sit. He was very polite and extremely friendly. He almost didn't ask us any question. He asked me my DOB and my parents' names, and then he made sure that he had all the paperwork he needed. Everything went very smoothly, and very quickly.
However, he required more documentation than what we had in hands. He said that for him everything was okay, but that other people who would review the file later might require more evidence of our shared life (We only had a renter insurance statement and evidence of our joint banking and saving accounts, since my husband didn't put me on his credit cards, and that, for some reason, we never put my name on the bills). He proposed we send him our joint car insurance paperwork (though i don't have any driver licence, so we'll have to put my name on there) and our joint tax return (though we have been married for only 10 months, so we'll have to file our first tax form together and wait for our tax return). Apart from that, everything went perfectly, he let us know that as soon as he receives our documentation, he'll send me a temporary green card issued by the Oklahoma City district office. This will be available only for one year. Apparently, the TSC is so far behind that the OKC district office has to send me a temporary green card until I finally receive the one from TSC.
We're going to try to take care of that missing documentation as soon as possible. I will let you know how things are going.
Good luck to those who still have to go through that process. I'll pray for all of you.
Emilie.

Hi, Emilie,
Did you get a form (I-72) at the end of the interview listing
additional required documents (joint car insurance, joint tax return)?
Or he just requested verbally? Did you get an address to send the
documents to?
Thanks for your info.

No, we were not given any form, but our interviewer printed out a letter for us. We'll have to send our missing documentation along with this letter.
In our case, the address we'll have to use is:
U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service
Attn: EXAMS
4400 SW 44th Street, Suite A
Oklahoma City, OK 73119
In addition, because of a short code written at the end of the letter, it will be directly sent to our interviewer.

You may have problems trying to get your name as a listed driver on your husbands car insurance when you don't have a license. Easiest thing is to call up all your utilities (phone, electric, gas, etc) and get your name added to them. And perhaps get secondary credit cards with your name, linked to your hubby's CC accounts.

Emilie-
Thanks for your post. There aren't too many people in Oklahoma that are going through this situation. We have our interview next week-Feb.12.
About the bills, Ive asked Cox & OG&E to add my husband on. They said he could be added to the account, not on the billing statement--which thats what we need to have in both our names. So I wouldnt worry about that.
One thing that we are submitted is life insurance paperwork. I dont know whether your husband has life insurance for the both of you, but if you do, thats good evidence.
Keep us posted when you get your temp green card! Oh and when you take your driving test (I'm so looking forward to my husband to take his!).

Hi Emilie,
Thanks for your reply. Is this letter called "Adjustment of status
notice" which lists different reasons why your case is pending? Which
reason did he check off? Is the address you got printed on this
letter?
The reason I'm asking is I received such a letter. The reason the
officer checked off was "background check pending". However, he did
ask us to send more photos. When I saw "follow instruction on
attached Form I-72" option was checked off by default but no form was
attached, he crossed it out and said "I'm not requesting additional
documents from you." So I'm confused as to whether I should send more
photos or wait 120 days to inquire about the case. By the way, the
only address I got was for inquiry which was printed on this letter.
Thanks for sharing your info.

Amy,
I'm going to write here the content of our letter.. it's quiet long![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Petitioner's name
Date
A Number
Form type: I-485
Important: this notice must be resubmitted in the original, with the requested information. When you have complied with the instructions on this form, resubmit this notice and all requested documents and/or information to:
U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service
Attn: Exams
4400 Sw 44th Street, Suite A
Oklahoma City City, OK 73119
Pursuant to 8 CFR 103.2(b)(8), you have 12 weeks from the date of this notice to submit the evidence requested; submit some or none of the requested additional evidence and ask for a decision based on the record; or withdraw the application or petition. Additional time may not be granted.
Unless originals are specifically requested, you may submit either the original documents or legible photocopies of the originals, including copies of the front and back of each document. If you choose to submit original documents , they will not be returned to you.
If you submit a document in any language other than English, it must be completely translated. The translator must certify that the translation is accurate and that the translator is competent to translate from the foreign language to English. NOTE: You must submit the requested foreign language document along with the English translation.
The documentation submitted needs further explanation because you have not provided the documentary evidence to show that your application merits favorable action. Therefore, you must:
Submit evidence of the bona fides of your marriage to Mr...... Such evidence may include, but is not limited to, documentation showing joint ownership of property; lease agreements showing joint tenancy of a common residence; documentation showing commingling of financial resources; affidavits of third parties having knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship (Such persons may be required to testify before an immigration as to the information contained in the affidavit. Affidavits must be sworn to or affirmed by people who have personal knowledge of the marital relationship. Each affidavit must contain the full name and address, date and place of birth of the peson making the affidavit and his or her relationship to the spouses, if any. The affidavit must contain complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of the marriage. Affidavits should be supported, if possible, by one or more types of documentary evidence listed above; or other documentation that is relevant to establish that the marriage was not entered into in order to evade the immigration laws of the United States.
Submission of the requested documents or evidence does not preclude this Service from scheduling you for an interview regarding your adjustment of status applcation at a later date. Failure to submit the requested evidence to support your applictio, by April 29, 2004, may result in the denial of your application.
That's it, Amy. And as far as I am concerned, I think you should send more pictures, if you have some, and even if you're not sure that you have to. It can't hurt. I'm sure they'd rather have too much documentation than not enough documentation. That's my opinion
Good luck!
We're on our way to get our tax form done and our car insurance too. We also put my name on our bills and on our lease. We should be all set as soon as we get our tax return. I'll keep you posted.
Emilie.
